Choquequirao Trek 5D/4N
Choquequirao (cradle of gold) on the Apurimac canyon, is the second most important archaeological remain of the Cusco region, which has a connection with the last refuge of the Quechua culture in Vilcabamba. As well as with Machupicchu through different royal Inca roads that traveled throughout the Inca Empire. We will follow a part of this privileged route over the Apurimac Canyon (God who speaks).

Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Chiquiska
We will depart from Cusco to the northeast along the interoceanic highway past the province of Antapampa, a flat agricultural and livestock valley. Once we begin to descend to Limatambo, we will visit the Inca archaeological site of Tarawasi. We will pass through the world capital city of anise Curahuasi and the Saywite monolith, considered a mock-up of the tawantinsuyo carved in stone in high and low relief of phytomorphic and zoomorphic figures of the Inca Empire.
Our private transport will take us to the town of Capuliyoc where we will meet with our support team, we will have our first impression of the Apurimac canyon with the snowy mountains of Padreyoc in the front and, to the left the snowy mountains of Qoriwayrachina and the path going down towards to encounter the Apurimac river. Then we will begin our descent and camp in Chiquiska (1,850m), in a small camp near the river. Distance: 18,400 km, Time: 6 hours of walking approximately.
Day 2: Chiquiska – Choquequirao
We will leave early down to the Rosalinas Bridge and cross the Apurimac River through a pedestrian bridge. From here we will ascend to our first resting place Santa Rosa. In this place we will be able to enjoy cane chicha (cambray), then we will begin to appreciate the vegetation and the environment on both sides of the Apurimac canyon. We will continue climbing until we reach the top of our tour, the town of Maranpata, where we will have the option to have lunch. With a beautiful view, we will continue to our Choquequirao camp, (2850msnm). In the afternoon we will have the opportunity to visit and explore the lower part of the camp the Temple dedicated to Water and Paractepata and enjoy the sunset.

Day 3: Choquequirao – Playa San Ignacio
If we have not had the opportunity to see it the day before, this day we will see it to the fullest since we will stay camping there one day. We will be able to tour all corners of the citadel, all sectors in the morning and in the afternoon so we can see the sunrise and the sunset in Choquequirao as well as the flight of the condor that can usually be seen with sunset.
After a very early breakfast, we will have the opportunity to explore the whole archaeological complex of Choquequirao. First we will visit the place called Pikiwasi, then go to the sector of the Llamas and the shepherd, at one of the slopes of the hill with spectacular view of the Apurímac canyon. Upon return we will visit the most important parts of the complex such as the main square, the Usno, granaries and purely religious places. Choquequirao has the largest and most extensive agricultural terraces of the Inca Empire. The temples have triple jamb in their main entrances.
After exploring we will go down to the camp for our lunch and after a short rest we will continue our walk and descent to the town of Playa San Ignacio (1,430 m.). In an approximate time of 3.50 hours. Our camp is located on the edge of the Apurimac River where one has the opportunity to bathe and cool off in the river.
Day 4: Playa San Ignacio – Villa de Loros – Huanipaca.
After enjoying breakfast we will start our walk up until we reach the Old Hacienda San Ignacio, at 1,700 m.a.s.l. We will make a well-deserved rest in the Hacienda San Ignacio, to continue the path until we reach and pass El Carmen Bridge, and reach the Villa Los Loros accommodation. Here we will have our lunch and spend the night in this beautiful accommodation to enjoy the sunset. Time: About 4 hours of walking.
Day 5: Villa de Loros – Cusco
Today our vehicle will pick us up early to begin our trip back to Cusco. In which we will enjoy a climb with a panoramic view of the valley and the surrounding peaks, traveling along the same path we took at the beginning. We will arrive to the city of Cusco.
