Ancascocha Trek 5D/4N
Ancascocha trek is definitely one of the less traveled alternative routes around Cusco that allows the visitor to have the opportunity to have contact with nature and its native Quechua people, especially llameros, who are the shepherds of llamas and alpacas In their natural habitat. This is a true adventure specially prepared for people who love nature with unique experiences, high Andean places and spectacular snowfalls and mountainous landscapes. This hike is not so well known and this is the added value for the visitor and gives the opportunity to find well preserved landscapes. The Inca Trail of Ancascocha offers snowy peaks such as: Salkantay (6,271m.), Humantay, Huayanay and others, and also colorful lagoons like Salkantay, Ancascocha and others. In this adventure we can see original Inca trails in the mountains that are covered by the years passed by.

Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Socma – Archeaeological complex of Perolniyoc – Chancachuco
Early in the morning after breakfast at your hotel, we will pick you up to go to the Socma Community (3,200 m. /(10,512 feet). The drive lasts approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. At this point we will meet our trekking team, horses and muleteers. During the trek, first we will visit the famous Perolniyoc Falls and then the Perolniyoc Archaeological Complex. There will be a guided visit to the Archaeological Complex of Perolniyoc, an Inca site perched on a rocky mountain top with a spectacular panoramic view of the Socma Valley.
We will continue to our lunch spot for approximately 1 hour with the view of a wonderful landscape around. After lunch, we will continue walking for approximately 2 hours to reach the first pass called Kuichicasa (4,620 m. / 15,250 feet). At this point we will have stunning views of the Urubamba range where we can see some snowy mountains and the Sacred Valley of the Incas below us. From where we descend downhill for 1 hour to get to the first camp called Chancachuco (4,300 m./ 14,268 feet).
Day 2: Chancachuco – Ancascocha Lagoon
After breakfast at approximately 6:00 am, we will begin our trek on a mountain plain with excellent views. After trekking for approximately 3 hours we will arrive at the next lunch spot located in the Ancascocha community. After lunch we will walk for approximately 2 hours to reach the second camp (4,300 m./14,432 feet) located in the Ancascocha lagoon (blue lagoon).
Day 3: Laguna De Ancascocha – Paucarcancha
We start the day having a nutritious breakfast at 6:00 am, and begin our hike ascending to the highest point of our route called Wayanay Pass (4,625 m./ 15,252 ft), with incredible views in all directions, snow-capped mountains, apachetas, etc. Then, the alternate Inca trail descends throughout the Qesqa Valley for approximately two hours until we reach Muyumuyu where we will have our lunch. After enjoying lunch and a nap, we will continue for approximately three more hours to reach our destination: our camp located at the edge of the Paucarcancha complex (3,130 m./ 10,335 feet), a small Archaeological Complex located between the two valleys of Qesqa and Salkantay. In the afternoon you will visit the Inca archaeological complex of Paucarcancha, where you will have the corresponding explanation from the official tourist guide.
Day 4: Paucarcancha – Km 82 – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
We will have breakfast early in the morning to walk to km 82, this section of the trail is the encounter with the first day of the Classic Inca Trail. We will see the Archaeological Complex of Llaqtapata, a beautiful Inca archaeological ruin nestled in the Sacred Valley with amazing agricultural terraces of crops, and the religious part in the lower part of the complex. After approximately 5 hours of walking, we will arrive at km 82 where we will have our last lunch prepared by our chef and it is the time to say goodbye to our muleteers and cooks. Then we will walk for 45 minutes to the city of Ollantaytambo to board the tourist train that will take us to the city of Machupicchu in a time of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. At arrival you wil go to your chosen hotel in the town of Aguas Calientes.
Day 5: Tour en Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco
After a well-deserved rest and breakfast at the hotel, the Guide will pick you up at the agreed time to go to the bus station and board in the direction of the Historic Sanctuary of Machupicchu. In approximately 30 minutes we will reach the main controlpoint of the sacred citadel to start with the guided tour (of an approximate time of 2:30 min.) through all the most important religious places of the Sanctuary. This day you will have the opportunity to take the most important panoramic and classic photos of the Machupicchu citadel.
After enjoying and having enough time in Machupicchu you will board the bus again to return to the town of Aguas Calientes, and have lunch at a recommended tourist restaurant. There will be free time to walk around the town prior coordination with the Guide.
P.m. Return by train to Ollantaytambo and then the bus that will take you back to the Hotel in Cusco. The approximate time from Aguas Calientes to Cusco is 4 hours.
