    Itinerary

    Day 1: Cusco – Tauca – Huchuy Qosqo – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.

    After breakfast at the hotel, the Professional Tourism Guide will pick you up very early to go by private tourist transportion to the small town of Chinchero district of Tauca, (3750 m) located on the banks of the Piuray lagoon where our trek begins. On the way we will enjoy the landscape of typical Andean valleys rich in corn, potatoes, barley, quinoa, etc.

    As you ascend through the valley towards the passage at 4050m, the landscape begins to drastically change into the typical vegetation of the high Andean zone, with the presence of the ichu. The views of the Vilcanota Mountain Range peaks are spectacular: snow-capped peaks of Verónica, Pitusiray, Sahuasiray, Chicón and San Juan.

    Shortly after the mountain pass, you will begin your descent to the plains of Huchuy Qosqo walking along a path that leads to Ccauca, where you can see archaeological remains and crops of corn, potatoes, tarwi, olluco, etc. and wild plants like the cactus.

    Following the route we will arrive at Leon Punku, where you will find remains of a bridge and Inca trail. This canyon has geological formations surrounded by majestic rocks and boulders that direct the river to Huchuy Qosqo at 3650 m.

    Huchuy Qosqo (“Little Cuzco”) is an Inca archaeological complex. According to history it belongs to the eighth Inka Wiracocha. It has very fine stone works in a large Kallanka (rectangular hall), residential neighborhoods and defensive walls.

    Two-level buildings made in stone and adobe. Huchuy Qosqo is located on a plateau, surrounded by Inca agricultural terraces and with excellent views of the Vilcanota mountain range. After the guided tour and exploration of the area, we will have time for lunch (box lunch). Then we will go down the hill to Lamay (2900 mt.), Where we will board our transport that will take us to the living Inca city of Ollantaytambo, where we will board the train that will take us to the town of Aguas Calientes.

    Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

    After breakfast, we will board the bus that will take us up for 30 min. to the largest and most important Archaeological center of the Incas, “Machu Picchu” (2400 mt./ 6690 fit). The Professional Tourism Guide will guide you and explain about the history of this mysterious and mystical place. On the guided tour we will visit the Temple of the Sun, the Royal Palace or palace of the Inka, Main Temple, Temple of the Three Windows. The most important religious places of the Sanctuary. It will be an unforgettable experience. If you have booked Wayna Picchu, you should coordinate with your guide for visits to Machu Picchu depending on your planned schedule for the mountain. After the guided tour you must board the bus down to Aguas Calientes for lunch and then have free time to explore the town. Later you will return to the train station in Aguas Calientes to take the return train to Ollantaytambo where private tourist transport will be waiting for you
