Lares Trek 4D/3N

Located in the western part of the Vilcanota chain following the Sacred Valley of the Incas, this route is unique because we will have the opportunity to exchange experiences with the local high Andean people, shepherds of llamas and alpacas in their natural habitat, experts in the textile activity with iconographic designs typical of the Lares district area.

We will observe peaks, snowfalls, subtropical valleys throughout the trip. We will enjoy the thermo-medicinal baths, royal Inca trail, llameros, scenic lagoons, Inca remains, etc. They also continue with the tradition of growing native potatoes on different altitude floors with different handmade colors and Inca ancestral motifs.

    Itinerary

    Day 1: Cusco – Lares hot springs – Wakawasi

    After your breakfast at the hotel, we will pick you up early to board the private tourist transport from Cusco or the Sacred Valley towards the District of Lares. The travel time will be approximately 3.5 hours. On the way we will pass through the capital of the province of Calca, where we will visit the local vegetable market and have the opportunity to buy some snacks and/ or presents for the poor children of the route. We will ascend approximately two hours and then descend to the district of Lares, go to the medicinal hot springs and then enjoy a pleasant and succulent lunch.

    After lunch we will start with the walk following a beautiful valley with plantations of high Andean products, such as potatoes, olluco, tarwi, etc. We will observe the local population with their daily activity, which is textile. We will walk approximately 3.5 hours uphill to reach the Wakawasi camp, where our support staff awaits us with a delicious dinner.

    Day 2: Wakawasi – mountain pass Ipsayqocha – Patacancha.

    After the nutritious breakfast, we will begin our hike, gradually climbing and observing the natural life of the high Andean population with its llamas and alpacas in their natural habitat. This day you can take the spectacular photos of the mountains with its typical flora and fauna of the area. We will have the opportunity to exchange experiences with local people.

    Arriving at the Ipsayqocha mountain pass (4,450 m. / 15,017 ft.) We will have the view of both inter-Andean valleys from where we will begin to descend to the Ipsayqocha lagoon where we will have our lunch of the day.

    After our daily rest we will continue our descent along the llamas and alpacas and enjoy the weather change until we reach the populated center of Patacancha, where our camp is located.

    Day 3: Patacancha – Pumamarca – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

    On this day after breakfast we will take the private transport that will transport us to the town of the Archaeological Complex of Pumamarca for a guided tour for approximately 1.30 hours. Without any people and / or tourists. After exploring you can descend to the communal camp of Pumamarca to enjoy the last lunch en route with an enviable panoramic view.

    After taking a nap, we will start walking along the royal Inca trail that connects Pumamarca with Ollantaytambo, on the route we will observe the agricultural terraces on the slopes of the Apu Pumamarca. After a 2-hour tour you will reach the town of Ollantaytambo and then board the tourist train that will take us to Aguas Calientes.

    Arriving in Aguas Calientes we will settle in the respective hotel.

    Day 4: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes

    After breakfast at the hotel you will be picked up at the agreed time to go to the bus station to the Historic Sanctuary of Machupicchu, considered one of the 7 wonders of the world.

    Its architectural beauty, its spectacular natural landscapes and the energy that encloses its enigmatic constructions will leave us breathless. The bus journey will last approximately 30 minutes. We will have a guided tour of the most important places of the Archaeological Ensemble of Machupicchu and explore and take pictures at the strategic points.

    The Professional Tourism Guide will explain for approximately 2.30 hours everything about the historic sanctuary of Machupicchu. Where you can visit the most important places of the Machu Picchu Sanctuary such as the royal tomb, Temple of the Sun, Palace of the Inca, Main Square, Temple of the three windows, Main Temple, Intihuatana, ending with a visit to the Temple of the Condor.

    After finishing the guided tour you will take the bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will have lunch at a local tourist restaurant of Aguas Calientes, then go to the Train Station and board the corresponding train and return to Ollantaytambo for approximately 1:30 hours, and finally by bus to Cusco.
