More known as chullpas that are cylindrical necropolis where the great dignitaries of the Tiahuanaco culture were buried. Some reach up to 12 meters high and are characterized because the base is smaller than the top. The most important men of the Qolla culture were buried in Sillustani and thousands of tombs of all types and sizes can be observed according to the rank they had within the Qolla society. After we will continue to the hotel in Puno.
Day 2: Puno – Uros and Amantani
In the morning we depart from the hotel at 8.00 a.m. to the lakeside port of Puno to board the motor boats. An approximate 40-minute trip is made to visit the floating islands of Uros where you can enjoy the cultural and ancestral wealth of the inhabitants of the area who have lived there for 500 years. In the past, the Uros tribe habited this island to live far away from the Incas and the Qollas, where they made the totora (plant that grows in this lake) their main material to manufacture their totora horses that they use for fishing and for manufacturing their houses. Then we will continue along Lake Titicaca towards Amantani Island, inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives, who still live according to their ancient traditions and whose main occupation consists of ceramics and the making of fine fabrics. The positive energy of this island is so powerful that it is known as “the Island of Love.”
Snack. Overnight stay in the house of an inhabitant of the island to enjoy the hospitality of a typical Amantani home. (B /L / D)
Day 3: Isla Amantani – Taquile – Puno
In the morning you have some free time to walk around the island. We will cross from Amantani Island to Taquile Island, traveling for an average of 1 hour. The Island is inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives who have developed an efficient and original social system through generations, as one of the best hand- weaving techniques in the world. We can also see numerous pre-Inca constructions, as well as platforms. The Island is very narrow, 1km wide and 6-7 km long. Here people offer their impressive works made of fine quality fabrics.
