Winikunka, also called Seven Colors Mountain, Rainbow Mountain (the locals call it Cerro Colorado), is the charm of Mother Nature.

It is located on the road to the snow-capped Apu Ausangate, in the Andes of Peru, Cusco Region, between the districts of Cusipata, province of Quispicanchi, and Pitumarca, province of Canchis. Attracted by the majesty of its stripes of various colors, this due to its mineralogical composition present on the slopes and summits.

Itinerary

Full Day 7 Colors Mountain (Rainbow). (5,080 m.a.s.l. / 16,466 ft.).

We will pick you up from your hotel to board our private tourist transportation and begin our incredible full day adventure.

We will travel about 2 hours through the South Valley until we reach the District of Cusipata, from where we start with the ascent by a carriage road for about an hour to reach the parking lot of cars, where we will begin our hike for approximately 1.5 hrs. until we reach the top of the mountain of Winicunca (5,080 m.a.s.l.). The approximate ascent is 600 mt. (1,980 ft.) from the beginning of our hike.

On the way we will observe a fertile valley used since the time of the Incas, impressive views of agricultural terraces, canyons and snow-capped mountains. At the starting point there is the option of renting emergency horses.

Finally we will arrive at our destination, Winicunca the Rainbow Mountain (5,080 m / 16,466 ft.); with a breathtaking view of the Vilcanota chain, accompanied by its flora, fauna. From the highest point we will have beautiful 360° views especially of the snow-capped Apu Ausangate (6,372 mt./ 21,021 ft.) and its companions.

We will have enough time to enjoy, take pictures of the natural scenery and spectacular Andean sunrise.

After enjoying the colorful mountain we will have an optional extension to see the Great Red Valley of Ausangate, impressive, incomparable and unique.

Box Lunch for our lunch at the indicated time then we will begin the return, to the bus parking, the return will take us about 1 hour, where our private transport awaits us that will take us back to the town Cusipata and then to the city of Cusco.
