Salkantay trek, famous and done by many tourists from different countries of the world, this new route is a different, unique version of the classic Trek from Salkantay to Machupicchu. Mountains and spectacular views along the interandino valley, where you will find Inca remains, remote communities, very friendly Andean people, subtropical areas of abundant flora and fauna.

On the way you will find children and female shepherds who take care of their flocks. Challenge your limits by entering the Salkantay pass, a spectacular step to see the mountain of the Apu Salkantay and finally descend through different microclimates through the valley of Qollpapampa, Lucmabamba to Machupicchu.

    Itinerary

    Day 1: Cusco – Challacancha- Humantay Lake – Salkantaypampa

    To start this great adventure of the Salkantay trek, we will pick you up early from the hotel, then travel in our private mobility approximately 2 hours to the town of Mollepata where we will have the opportunity to have some coffee and buy some snacks. After the break we will continue with our trip to the town of Challacancha, where we will begin our trek following the famous Inca channel to Soraypampa for approximately 3 hours where we will enjoy the spectacular views of the Apu Salkantay and Humantay, then arriving at Soraypampa where our chef will be waiting with the respective lunch.

    After lunch we will make a short walk to the Humantay lagoon (2 hours and 30). It is an optional visit but highly recommended today for being very famous in the day tours from Cusco, for its natural attraction.

    After the visit to Humantay we will make a walk of about an hour and a half until we reach Salkantaypampa, place where we will spend the first night of the expedition and from this area we can appreciate the spectacular landscape of the Humantay and Salkantay snowy mountains.

    Day 2: Salkantaypampa – Qollpapampa

    Very early we will have our breakfast to start our walk without many people to accompany us. We will ascend for an approximate 3 hours following the zig zag of the 7 laps that leads us to the Salkantay Abra, the highest point of our expedition (Salkantay trek). From here we will have the impressive views of the Vilcabamba mountain range glaciers, from here you can also already appreciate the high Amazon rainforest full of flora and fauna on this ecological floor. From here we will begin with the descent to the community of Wayracpunku where we will enjoy our lunch prepared by our chef.

    After lunch and a respective rest we will continue our trip down the clouded forest valley, where we will observe different types of flora and fauna until we reach our second camp located in Qollpapampa with breathtaking views of the subtropical valley.

    Day 3: Qollpapampa – Lucmabamba

    After our delicious early breakfast, we will start with our downhill hike to the high jungle. Here we will be lucky to see different types of wild vegetation such as orchids, begonias, bromilia, timber trees and also domestic plantations such as coffee, bananas, orange, granadilla, avocado trees, etc. The flora and fauna of the rainforest is one of the best.

    After 5 to 6 hours of walking we will pass through the beach town to continue another hour to arrive at Lucmabamba, location for lunch and camping. In this town we will have enough time to explore and have a coffee tour, guided by a local resident accompanied by the official Group Guide. Here you will have the opportunity to observe the process of drying, piling, roasting the coffee and then tasting the Quillabambino Creole coffee considered one of the best coffees in the world for its incomparable flavor and aroma.

    Day 4: Lucmabamba – Hidroeléctrica – Machupicchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes)

    The sunrise in a tropical area full of history and nature, surrounded by coffee, avocado, pacay, tea, cassave, sweet potato plantations. Here our breakfast will be made with the organic natural products of the area. Waiting ready to taste and then we will continue our ascent for approximately three hours to reach the Abra de Qelloccasa, where the small archaeological site of Llactapata is located, from there we can observe Machupicchu and the mountains of Machupicchu and Huaynapicchu. Descending the zigzagging path for approximately three hours we will arrive at the Hydroelectric village to have our lunch served and a well-deserved rest.

    After lunch we will take the tourist train for a time of 30 minutes that will take us to Machupicchu town or Aguas Calientes. Hotel in Aguas Calientes.

    Day 5: Machu Picchu Pueblo (aguas calientes) – Machu Picchu – Cusco

    After breakfast at the hotel you will be picked up at the agreed time to go to the bus station to the Historic Sanctuary of Machupicchu, considered one of the 7 wonders of the world.

    Its architectural beauty, its spectacular natural landscapes and the energy that enclose its enigmatic constructions will leave us breathless. The bus journey will last approximately 30 minutes. We will have a guided tour of the most important places of the Archaeological Ensemble of Machupicchu and explore it and take pictures at the strategic points.

    After giving you an introduction to Machupicchu, the Professional Tourism Guide will explain during the tour all about the historic sanctuary of Machupicchu. The guided tour will last for approximately 2.30 hours, where you can visit the most important places of the Machu Picchu Sanctuary such as the royal tomb, Temple of the Sun, Palace of the Inca, Main Square, Temple of the three windows, Main Temple, Intihuatana, ending with the visit to the Temple of the Condor.

    After finishing the guided tour you will take the bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will have lunch at a local tourist restaurant of Aguas Calientes, Then we will go to the Train Station and board the train and return to Ollantaytambo for approximately 1:30 hours, and after by bus to Cusco.
